As we start a new year we start a new phase in our lives. It is hard to believe that we are building again. We have started to transform the last six acre piece left of the old Budgett Farm into a haven from the world. After twenty-seven years of work on the house and yard it was time to walk away. We will always remember the sledding parties, Easter egg hunts, coming down the stairs Christmas morning, a wedding on the deck and all the other fun times we had as a family. It was to walk away but we finally did it. Cherri wanted a normal Thanksgiving so we didn't take anything off the walls or move any furniture. That very weekend we started moving to a house down the street. We had to be out in a week. We were very fortunate that we found a house that hadn't sold in two years that we could rent while we build. The neighbors and church people helped us move 27 years of stuff.
We know live at 180 Whitney Blvd.
We were fortunate that there was a cold snap that allowed us time to get the 750 ft. of road to the house site. We also got the phone and power lines in and the temp.power is hooked up. It has been a long process to find a contractor and get subs for all the different parts of the house. Our contracter will build the shell and then we will bring in the subs that we have picked to do the rest. Cheryle says she is tired of making decisions on doors, windows, lights etc. The good thing about all of this is the price of lumber is down and subcontractors are hungry for work. We had to go down 255 feet to get water but we hit 77 gallons a minute. We will be able to water anytime anywhere. I found seven year old fruit trees for my orchard so I am ready to plant as soon as the ground gets a little dryer. Here are just a few picts. as work begins. Yea!!! Six months and counting.
